100 things that made my year | 2023 edition

  1. Spending the first day of the year with Jack - cooking, binging a show, going to ikea, going on a walk.

  2. Walks with Ralph - my grumpy English bulldog.

  3. Going to the movies with Griff and Jack. Griff is always so hyped. 

  4. Pasta night at Auntie Laurie’s. Griff made pasta, we played cards and colored.

  5. BOUGHT AN EICHLER. The list can honestly end here - that trumps everything else. Is this real life? Follow along @theadoberanch.

  6. A candle lit picnic dinner in our new house on the floor bc we had no furniture yet.

  7. A weekend at the eichler with Jack and my Dad working on projects.

  8. Listening to my Dad and Jack geek out over general contractor stuff. Cuties.

  9. New lights at the eichler installed by my dad :)

  10. Harlem globe trotters game with Auntie Laurie.

  11. Being drenched that entire night from the super storm and laughing when we ran to the car after the game.

  12. Fixing our water leak in the laundry room on our own with my dad on FaceTime.

  13. First load of laundry in said sexy new washer and dryer.

  14. 5 minute commute to work from new house.

  15. Learned how to correctly hardwire our cute light in the den.

  16. Griffy saying “pah-rize” instead of “surprise”.

  17. Photographed Marigold flower shop and their new cafe.

  18. Took myself out for a solo boozy lunch at Tartine Manufactory.

  19. Building things with Griffy. I love to watch him figure things out.

  20. Griff yelling “I love this night!” - when we were just doing a work out and having tacos for dinner. LOL.

  21. The birds finally found my cute little feeder and I watch them have breakfast every morning.

  23. Picking flowers with Griff in our yard to make a bouquet for Jack.

  24. Photographed my brother’s wedding. It was truly the honor of my life.

  26. A bucket list trip to Morocco with Jack.

  27. Went to Chefchaouen which has been at the top of my travel list for EVER.

  28. Griffy’s first time playing baseball on a team. It was a fun and v cute season. 

  29. Watching the warriors in the play off and griff saying “pep” curry instead of Steph.

  30. Got a vintage bicycle so I can ride to work. 

  31. Bought a sexy new jeep. Beep beep.

  32. Spent a long weekend in Stinson beach with Rachel for my birthday. Nothing is better than three beach days in a row.

  33. A few trips to the Oakland Zoo with Al, Harley, Griffy and Jack. This is one of our favorite places.

  34. Seeing Thomas Jackson’s art installation in Tiburon. So inspiring.

  35. Getting our Moroccan rug in the mail that we bought in the souk on our trip. Such a fun keepsake that we will have forever.

  36. Making our photo booth prints all together for Griff’s birthday tradition.

  37. Planning our plantings for the new yard with all my favorite plants.

  38. A weekend in Fresno at my aunt’s new house.  

  39. A weekend in Palm Springs with Raaz, Naazak and our partners. It was the best baby moon before their sweet babies came. Let’s go back asap.

  40. Spending a dead week at home with Jack after surgery. There were a lot of tears on my end but Jack is the ultimate nurse and partner.  

  41. Finally got a breast reduction which is nothing short of life changing. Modern medicine is nuts. 

  42. My besties had babies! Immediately fell in love with my new niece and nephew. 

  43. Griffy calling leftovers “save overs”. Haha. 

  44. 4th of July parade with the Kiefers and friends.

  45. Griff turned 5! How has this happened. Make it stop.

  46. Movie nights on the floor of Griffy’s room in a fort we built.  

  47. Weekend in Red Bluff for dad’s birthday. Spent all our time on the river to celebrate.

  48. Planning our house remodel. It is fun to dream.

  49. Restored and painted the exterior of the house a sexy green color.

  50. Griffy graduated from preschool! Wut.

  51. A lot of family dinners with my brother and sister-in-law. These mean so much to me.

  52. Did a fun shoot at a flower farm with my dear friend Terra.

  53. Cherry picking in Brentwood.

  54. Griff getting his first library card.

  55. Went to Long Beach to meet my new niece and nephew! Spent the entire weekend on the couch, holding babies. It was heaven.

  58. Spent the summer in our sweet neighbor’s pool.

  62. Flower piano in SF. I’ll go every year for the rest of forever from here on out. 

  63. NYC to see my little sister Anderson.

  64. The Rancho San Miguel Eichler tour in our neighborhood. I hope someday our house will be on it. 

  65. Our dogs finally get along! Never thought I’d see the day. 

  66. Old fashioneds at Union Station in Denver with Rachel and Jack.

  67. Really seeing the fall leaves change this year.

  68. A pumpkin carving party with my aunt, cousin, niece, brothers and sister in law. It was truly the best. 

  69. The entire weekend doing Halloween activities with my aunt, cousin and niece.

  70. Griffy’s halloween parade at school. He was a broody Batman. 

  71. A photoshoot with Holly Blakey (@breathing.room.home) for her new line with Crate and Barrel.

  72. My guilty pleasure this year - Love Island. I truly am addicted to it and have to limit how much I watch it.

  73. Started doing reformer pilates and finally feel like I found a workout I love. Thanks for the rec Michele!

  74. Annual foraged wreath with Griff. He was so excited to take his clippers and choose different things to bring home.

  75. Friendsgiving in Long Beach with allllll the kids. This is always the highlight of my year. 

  76. Thanksgiving on the beach in Half Moon Bay with my dad. So Californian.

  77. Something v exciting that I can’t announce to the interwebz quite yet. Coming in 2024. 

  78. A special fancy dinner for my little brother’s 30th birthday. Core memory.

  79. Had 26 therapy sessions. Therapy rocks.

  80. Went on our annual visit to Glowfari at the Oakland Zoo with the Kiefers. We had the best time chasing bubbles, running after the kids and watching Lauren’s mama buy 1000 churros. 

  81. Taking our first Christmas card photos at home. Another core memory. I will treasure these photos always.

  82. Fletcher released a new song. On repeat the rest of forever for me. 

  83. Spent a sparkly night with Auntie Ray Ray at Filoli. 

  84. Hiking Shell Ridge with Dani and her cute pups.

  85. I’m a creature of habit and like to be tucked in at home on school nights. But we went bowling mid-week after school got out and Griff was beyond excited. Hoping to do more of this in the new year. 

  86. A cozy, rainy weekend at Timber Cove for Jack’s birthday. 

  87. Chain-stitched Jack and Griffy’s names on to their stockings by hand.

  88. Started the process of getting all the bleach out of my hair from the last 5 years. Here’s to healthier hair in 2024.

  89. A Christmas-y weekend at my dad’s in Red Bluff.

  90. Hit my goal and read 100 books this year! 

  91. Bought tickets for a Fletcher concert in Paris in 2024.

  92. The dead week between Christmas and the new year.

  93. Cozy fires in our fireplace.

  94. Inspiration to kick off my photo club again in 2024.

  95. The sound of rain on our eichler roof. Feels like you are in a rainforest.

  96. Moving my body. That is my focus in 2024 and I can’t wait to get started.

  97. Picking up something sparkly from Esqueleto.

  98. Dirty martinis at the Claremont with my friends the day after Christmas.

  99. Read 10 Stephen King books this year and all of them were so good. If you aren’t on the Stephen King train, get on it. You’re missing out. Start with The Stand and then get back to me. I promise his books aren’t as scary as you think.

  100. I got a lot of good out of two podcasts this year - Made it Out and Exes and O’s. representation matters folks and it feels so validating to find some of your own struggles within someone else’s.
